A new artificial intelligence will reveal dementia in the process of a normal dialogue.

Osaka University has created artificial intelligence to recognize dementia in the early stages of its development.

Most diseases are very difficult to determine in the initial stage. Barely noticeable signs are often attributed to temporary symptoms, and when the disease manifests itself to a much greater degree, it becomes much more difficult to correct the condition of the patient. Thanks to the new invention of Japanese scientists, it became possible to determine in a few minutes that the patient has signs of dementia.

Studies have confirmed that the symptoms of dementia manifest themselves in the process of a normal conversation with a person.

Signs such as delay in responses, intonation, loudness with which a person speaks, and even the percentage ratio of nouns and verbs matter.

The created system of artificial intelligence asks the patient only 6 questions, and within 2 minutes after the dialogue gives a verdict on the presence or absence of the initial signs of deviations. Experiments confirmed the effectiveness of the system at 92%. In addition to the dialogue, the system also uses the initial input data about the object of study, which increases the reliability of the results many times.

Author of the design Takeshi Kudo calls his invention universalbecause it can be used at home on a regular basis. The more often people interact with the AI, the sooner it will be possible to identify the first signs of the disease. This opportunity is especially relevant for lonely people and elderly couples, because it is very difficult to assess your own condition without adequate interpretation from the outside.
