New device helps to cope with diseases at the gene level

Specialists of the Russian Skolkovo complex are developing a device with which you can decipher the genome.

Such a decoding is necessary both in research activities and in the analysis of mutating genes. The detailed characteristic of the genome is used in personalized medicine.

The creators promise that the cost of domestic new items will be several times lower than their foreign counterparts. At the same time collecting detailed information about DNA will not only reveal the genetic susceptibility to certain diseases,but also to select the most effective treatment regimens that take into account the structure of the genome.

Developer representative Nadezhda Matveeva reported that about 70% of all manufactured devices will be delivered to health facilities - hospitals, dispensaries, maternity homes. The rest - in the structure of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, Ministry of Emergency Situations, customs authorities.

The project implementation period is 4 years; the total budget is 0.5 billion rubles. Since experiments on the genome are prohibited in the Russian Federation, the device will not be used for such purposes. The main purpose of the novelty is to assist in the diagnosis, prevention and treatment of diseases.
