In the US, unmanned vans will begin to deliver food
A large American company Kroger together with Nuro have created a product delivery service using unmanned aerial vehicles.
Kroger is a supermarket hypernet, founded over 130 years ago. Only the Wal-Mart network is able to compete with the company in terms of turnover. Nuro - a start-up on the use of robotic transport for delivering goods to customers. The management of Nuro did not set itself the task of delivering food products, but at the moment, working together with Kronger is able to take the startup to a new level and attract new customers.
Nuro vans are vehicles with a cabin and several compartments for goods. Touch panels, cameras and other devices for orientation in space are located on the roof of the car.
The procedure for ordering goods is carried out through a special user application. In order to receive their goods, the customer will have to enter a special code on the vehicle panel that unlocks access to the required compartment. At the time of the test in the cockpit of the robot carrier will sit the operator. It will prevent the occurrence of abnormal situations. After the work of the car will be debugged to the smallest detail, the need for an operator will disappear.
The project is considered as effective and promising. It is not yet clear how much the delivery will cost, and whether the manufacturer will be able to cover part of the delivery costs without transferring it entirely to the consumer. The date of the start of sales using the carrier robot has not yet been reported.
