A new Android application that allows you to circumvent government censorship
Jigsaw specialists have created an application for Android smartphones that allows it to bypass government censorship in countries where it is widespread.
The program, called Intra, is able to encrypt data at the time of their transfer from the smartphone to the DNS server. As a result, the provider, as well as any other person who wants to influence the process of information exchange, does not have such an opportunity, because he does not see exactly where the user intends to go.
According to the authors, this opportunity will help residents of authoritarian countries to avoid state censorship, penetrating into all spheres of activity, including receiving information through the Internet. Among such countries are China, Venezuela, Iran and many others. Currently, authorized representatives of the authorities of these countries can manipulate users by forwarding their requests for information from suspicious sites to other, more “correct” portals.
Intra has already been tested by activists from Venezuela. As for our country, such applications in the Russian reality are ineffective. The fact is that censorship here works on a different principle. Providers simply block the flow of traffic from any "suspicious" site.
