Instructions for use of the gas stove
Many people encounter a gas stove, but not everyone knows how to use it properly. But during its operation it is necessary to adhere to safety rules: a gas leak in an apartment in a high-rise building can lead to an accident, as it forms an explosive mixture. In case of neglect in the use of a gas stove, tenants and other premises may suffer.
General requirements
Regardless of whether natural gas is used by connections to the centralized gas system or cylinder applied, the approach to operation is the same. We give general requirements for the use of natural gas.
- The room in which the stove is located should be ventilated.
- Each time after the end of the cooking process it is necessary to close the valve on the pipe or the cylinder valve.
- Before leaving the house, check the taps on the stove and on the gas pipe. In the event of an emergency, this will help block the flow of gas air into the room.
- In the event of equipment failure or leak detection, it is necessary to immediately inform the gas service.
Before turning on the gas stove, it is necessary to become familiar with the technical passport of the equipment, and study the instructions for its use.
How to light a fire
If you have never encountered gas stoves before, then the question of how to light a gas stove may be quite relevant. To do this, follow a specific algorithm. First of all it is necessary air the room. Further it is necessary to perform the following actions step by step:
- Open the valve on the pipe or the valve if a gas cylinder is used.
- Light the burner.
This process occurs in different ways, depending on the type of stove and the source of fire. The stove can be ignited in the following ways:
- from an open source of fire - matches;
- using electrical or silicon lighters;
- electric ignition
Modern models of gas stoves are equipped with built-in electric ignition. This function can be displayed on separate button, and can be built into the burner valve. This is the only case when the burner can be lit at the same time as the faucet is turned. In other models, you must first provide a fire (spark), and then open the valve of the burner. The valve opens clockwise when lightly pressed inwards. Read how to light a gas stove oven. here.
The flame should be a clear blue color and evenly distributed around the burner. If it slips inside, close the tap and repeat the stove re-ignition. The optimum height of the flame should not exceed 2-2.5 cm and is regulated by turning the valve handle. If there is a draft in the room, the flame will tend to come off the burner, which is dangerous from the point of view of fire safety. If there is an excess of air, it is necessary to close the window. With a lack of air, the color of the flame will clearly change from blue to yellow, and carbon monoxide, dangerous for human health, will also be emitted.
What not to do when using the stove
Having extensive experience in working with appliances, consumers sometimes forget about both precautionary measures and some features of using a gas stove.To make the cooking process safe for the owner and those around you, you need to remember what to do.
- It is not recommended to use dishes with a wide bottom on low burners. In this case, the effect of incomplete combustion of the fuel is formed, and carbon monoxide can be poisoned.
- The flame should not leave the zone of the bottom of the dish, as this will lead to a useless increase in fuel consumption and the appearance of soot, which will only increase the time of the cooking process.
- If the diameter of the cooker exceeds the hob and goes beyond its edges, you should use additional ring, allowing to increase height and to provide air supply.
It is important to know! If the smell of gas is clearly pronounced in the room, in no case should the burner be lit on the stove. It should promptly ventilate the room and contact the gas service.
