One of the cities of Tatarstan became the first place in Europe where you can call unmanned taxi
In the Republic of Tatarstan launched a test service taxi-drone. The authors of the project were the specialists of the company "Yandex". The city of Innopolis became the first and so far the only place in Europe where unmanned taxis can be used in the usual everyday mode.
In recent years, Yandex has been actively engaged in testing and implementing unmanned taxi services in Russian cities. In the winter of this year, tests were carried out on Moscow roads, and a couple of months ago, an unmanned vehicle made a test drive from Moscow to Kazan.
The city of Innopolis has become a new test ground for Yandex, a much larger scale than the previous ones. At the moment there are five points intended for embarking and disembarking passengers - one of the residential areas, a medical center, a university, a stadium and a business center. These objects are recognized as key places of the city. The project involved residents who agreed to participate in the program. They are free to travel by taxi within the main points.
Passengers will feel safe, because at the time of the test in the cabin there will be a Yandex engineer observing the trips and noting any failures or deficiencies in the service. Taxi will work every day, the cabin is designed to accommodate three passengers.
