The territory of Chernobyl begin to master

The first solar power station appeared in Chernobyl. Its capacity was 1 MW.

This was told by one of the leaders of the company Solar Chernobyl Evgeny Varyagin. The power plant consists of 3.8 thousand panels, which are mounted on a plot of one and a half hectares. The territory is located in close proximity to the source of the explosion at the Chernobyl nuclear power plant.

The capacity of the constructed energy source will be enough to supply a small village or almost 2000 urban-type apartments.

The Solar Chernobyl project began its work thanks to agreements between the management of the Ukrainian company Rodina Energy Group and the German holding company Enerpark AG. The search for investments in the creation of the power plant has been going on since 2016. As a result, funds were raised in the amount of 1 million euros. In November 2017, Bloomberg already announced the completion of work at the facility, but no information was received from officials.

Projects to create new solar cells are interested in some French and Chinese companies. Experts intend to continue the search for investments in new similar developments.Solar activity in the Pripyat area is high, it is impossible to use the land for its intended purpose. Therefore, the emergence of a project that allows the use of working “idle” resources has attracted the attention of many investors.
