New drones will deliver medicine as soon as possible.

Specialists of the company Zipline created a new unmanned aerial vehicle for delivery of various cargoes. The organization’s assets already have devices that are successfully used in the process of transporting vital components in Rwanda. The updated model has improved performance - a higher speed and increased range of flights.

The work of delivering blood and medicine by drones in Rwanda was organized in 2016. It is carried out according to the following scheme. Doctors located in remote locations, through a text message, make a request for the delivery of any necessary medicines. The order arrives at the central distribution office, where everything necessary is placed on one of the many drones. After that, the drone moves to its destination and drops the cargo on a parachute, then flies back.

According to the developers, the new drone will need only one minute to receive an order and take off, as a result, the number of possible deliveries during the day will approach half a thousand.

The maximum speed that an aircraft is capable of developing is 128 km / h, the average cruise speed is more than 100 km / h. Indicators of 20 km / h higher than the old model. The maximum distance that the drone is able to overcome is 160 km, the maximum permissible load weight is 1.7 kg.

Representatives of the company Zipline expect to expand the geography of deliveries of their devices in the near future. For example, management plans to organize a delivery service using drones in the United States. To do this, you must go through the procedure of prior approval at the Federal Aviation Administration, as well as obtain permission from the authorities of each state.
