Created a revolutionary virtual reality management system.
Representatives of the company Leap Motion announced plans to create a unique in its essence platform that will manage objects through a hand-tracking system.
The development was named Project North Star. At the moment, this is a rather “raw” project that requires numerous modifications, tests and approvals. However, the idea itself is essentially revolutionary. Project North Star includes a headset equipped with a sensor, thanks to which objects will be managed using hands. Leap Motion has already acted as the author of a similar idea, only at that time it was designed for personal computers and displays that display virtual reality.
The new headset will be implemented through special software specifications, which are open source licenses.
The design of the kit consists of 2 3.5-inch LCD displays that have a resolution of 1600 * 1440 and are updated very quickly. The display is able to reflect the light on a special visor, which is in the field of view of the user. Due to this, the field of view expands to 70 degrees horizontally and 95 degrees vertically. No such system can offer such characteristics.
The creators of the novelty focus their efforts not on improving the headset, but on creating effective software. In this regard, the created sensor can already be used in conjunction with HoloLens - a mixed reality headset.
