A new battery for electric vehicles charges in 1 minute
Fisker has filed a patent for a new battery for electric vehicles. According to the company's specialists, the battery will be fully charged in one minute, and the charge will be enough for 800 km of the vehicle.
If this statement is true, then in terms of its parameters, the new battery model will significantly overtake the leader of the S 100D from Tesla - a battery capable of charging in half an hour and allowing non-stop movement at a distance of 540 km.
The created rechargeable battery is solid state, it, unlike the previous lithium-ion variants, is able to charge many times faster and save energy much longer. Fisker CEO Henrik Fisker states that he was able to resolve the main difficulties associated with the creation of solid-state elements. Namely, to overcome the low current density emanating from the electrodes, and to improve the performance of batteries in conditions of extremely high or extremely low temperatures. At the same time, the creation of a new battery takes three times less money than in the case of lithium-ion analogues.
Mass production of solid-state batteries is scheduled to begin in 2023, so this is a project for the medium term.
In case of successful introduction of such batteries will complement not only cars, but also other equipment, which now works on analogues. Negotiations with major manufacturing companies on this issue are already underway.
