Induction heater for garden and home
Today, induction heaters are becoming increasingly popular. Such devices have several advantages: they are more economical, have high efficiency and can even be made at home. Such heaters can heat the room, or use them as instantaneous water heaters.
Recently, more and more owners of their own squares prefer electric heaters of this type. This is easily explained. Unlike other types of devices, they are safe, do not leave soot, soot and, which is very convenient, during their operation there is no need to purchase firewood. However, such equipment can not be called economical.

What is a
Induction vortex heaters are suitable for heating a house, garage, apartment, bath, in general, any square meters where there is not enough heat or it is completely absent. Induction heaters work due to eddy currents (Foucault currents) generated by the magnetic field. They heat the surrounding space. To generate such a field, an inductor is needed, which is a multi-turn coil in the form of a cylinder. An alternating electric current, passing through this very coil, creates a magnetic field. Further, the eddy currents are converted into thermal energy.
Heating to high temperatures (70 degrees) using such a device occurs fairly quickly, in about 5 minutes.
Advantages and disadvantages
Analyzing the workflow of the heater and the costs associated with it, I would like to note the undoubted advantages that the owner of such a device receives:
- Efficiency of 99%, practically no heat loss.
- During the work of system the scum is not formed, unlike the heaters having TEN.
- Ecologically safe space heating.
- At heating it is possible to use both water (most often), and antifreeze, oil.
- There is no need for frequent maintenance.
- The installation process does not require special skills, unpretentious operation.
- High fire and electrical safety.
- The possibility of combining with other heating systems.
- Work from a network as alternating current, and direct.
- Service life over 20 years.
Despite all the advantages that the device has, it is impossible not to note significant drawbacks:
- high cost of equipment in stores;
- expensive heating;
- stable power supply required;
- large weight of the device;
- possibility of installation only in a closed heating system.
Application
Heating based on eddy currents created by electromagnetic fields can be used for:
- heating housing, home, bath, garage, industrial or administrative building;
- in the hot water system;
- heating of structures and structures that have specific requirements for heat sources (for safety).
DIY Induction Heater
Due to the high cost of the device, many decide to make a similar heater on their own.On the Internet you can find many articles that describe how to make an induction boiler - a heater with your own hands. We will describe the principle of manufacturing the simplest type of device so that any owner can cope with this task.
Before you begin to work, prepare the following tools: pliers, a soldering iron (if you plan to make a core of metal pipe), a screwdriver.
- Cut stainless steel wire with a diameter of 7 mm into pieces of approximately 5 mm.
- Prepare a plastic or metal pipe (core), the walls of which must be at least 3-5 mm thick, so that it can withstand high temperatures.
- Fill the tube to the top with wire scraps.
- Close the ends of the pipe with a grid to exclude the possibility of falling out of it trimming during operation of the device.
- Further along the entire length of the pipe spiral wind the copper wire, making about 90 turns.
- Make a boiler by cutting a rectangular section of the pipe.
- Insert the manufactured device into the boiler hole.
- Connect the ends of the copper wire to an inverter with a high frequency action. You can buy it in almost all stores with a construction direction.
Before assembling the equipment, evaluate your strengths and capabilities. Do not undertake to manufacture a heater if you do not understand anything about electricity.
Induction water heater for heating system
The heater has a very unpretentious design. It is highly effective and reliable. Using it in the manufacture of the boiler in the heating system, you can neglect the installation of the pump, because the water will flow through the pipes as a result of convection.
Such a device should be provided branch pipes: for cold and hot water. From above, hot water will be supplied through the pipe to the heating system. And on the bottom of the introductory part cold water will remain through it
Safe use
Keep in mind that an induction heater is an electrical device of increased danger. Rules that should be taken into account in the manufacture of such equipment:
- Equip your device with a temperature sensor. In case of overheating of the equipment, the system should be able to turn off automatically.
- For home-made equipment, organize a separate line with increased wire cross-section.
- Do not neglect the isolation of exposed areas, protect your loved ones from electric shock.
- Before switching on the inductor, make sure that the pipe is filled with water. If it is not available, the device may burn and the pipe will melt.
- Do not place equipment in a residential area. Electromagnetic waves have a negative impact on the health of people and animals.
- The device should be installed at a height of more than 80 cm from the floor, and the distance from the device to the ceiling should be at least 30 cm.
- Ground equipment.
- The installation of the device should be done through the machine so that in case of an accident, the device is disconnected from the power supply.
- To reduce the pressure in the system is not superfluous to install a safety valve in the piping system.
If we summarize the information, we can conclude:
- Induction heater has a high efficiency, in some models it reaches 99%.
- The device can be used as water heater, and in the form of a boiler in the heating system.
- The design of the heater is quite simple, so its assembly and installation is possible on its own.
- The use of induction water heater in the territory of the Russian Federation is not regulated.
Despite all the advantages, the decision on the installation of such equipment should be taken carefully:
- First, it consumes a sufficiently large amount of electricity.
- Secondly, the device, especially self-assembled, can not be called completely safe.
- Thirdly, it has a negative impact on the health of people and animals. Therefore, it should be installed at summer cottages or in your own homes.
