Therefore, it is necessary to consider all the pros and cons that are found in microwave ovens, and take the only right decision.

What are microwaves.
In order to assess the advantages and disadvantages of microwave ovens, first consider what they generally are.
- So called mono ovens (also called solo) are intended for heating and quick defrosting of products with a minimum set of functions. They use only microwaves.
- Grill stove - their functionality is much broader. This is not only heating and defrosting, but also cooking.
- Convection Microwave Ovens equipped with air ventilation.Extended functionality allows you to use them on a par with ovens or even instead of them.
More microwaves may differ:
- by volume from 16 to 40-43 liters (for a family of 2 people a minimum range is enough, 3-4 people - about 23 liters, 40 liters are suitable for larger quantities);
- by internal coating - enameled (the most common, easy to clean), ceramic (easy to clean, but fragile), stainless steel (resistant to high temperatures, but the cleaning time-consuming);
- control method - levers, mechanical and touch buttons.
Pluses microwave ovens
With the help of microwaves, you can not only quickly heat up, defrost, cook simple dishes, but also bake meat dishes and bake buns, muffins. The positive characteristics of these devices are impressive.
- When warming up, it is not necessary to use oils and fats, thus protecting the body from excess carcinogenic substances, which are formed by the interaction of oils with high temperatures.
- Small dimensions allow to place the unit even in kitchen rooms with small areas.
- Installed programs use automatic temperature and time settings, which significantly save electricity. There is no need for constant presence: I asked the program, turned it on - go do your own work.
- The duration of defrosting food is significantly reduced (from several hours to ten minutes).
- The air space of the kitchen is not heated, as when cooking on stoves.
- Do not destroy the vitamin composition of food.
Recipes for dieters, for the most part, suggest minimal use of fats, which again is a plus for microwave ovens. Dishes are not fried or burned.
Cons microwave ovens
Despite the number of advantages microwaves, cons, too, still exist. The most important is harmful radiation, but manufacturers are struggling with this drawback: they install retention grids in front of the glass, improve the protective properties of the case.
Note: radiation outside the microwave does not propagate beyond 20 cm.
The second negative point is called taste of cooked food - it causes a little artificial, unnatural sensations, unlike food made in ovens, on plates. Also, the microwave does not allow you to fry using a large amount of oil, and recipes of some dishes imply this, although, as mentioned above, for some it is an advantage.
Should I buy a microwave
Cons of microwave ovens can not block all the positive aspects when using them. First is time saving hostesses, secondly, the benefits of the made dishes are much higher; thirdly, there is no smell when cooking, as well as air heating. The expediency of acquiring a microwave is, of course, an individual matter, but if you take into account all the above, then there are no critical contraindications to its use.
It should be noted that in most families, the microwave is used exclusively for heating food.. It’s still not very convenient to cook in it, especially since there are many other units for this today. For example, multicookers they also do not allow the heat and smells from the prepared food to spread, allow cooking without oil, etc.Summing up, we can say that the microwave will be indispensable in order to save time when heating the finished food.
