Experts from Massachusetts have created a fish robot, watching the depths of the sea
Specialists from the Massachusetts Computer Science Laboratory created a robot fish to observe marine life. Observation function is available due to the ability of the robot to move freely in the water space.
The device, called SoFi, has unique maneuvering abilities, thanks to which it can “spy” on fish as freely as possible. In this case, the "spy" has excellent camouflage characteristics.
One of the authors of the journal Science Robotics, Robert Katsmann, made a statement that the invention is the first device in the world capable of moving in a three-dimensional plane for a long period of time.
The depth at which SoFi is able to dive is 15 meters, the time during which the robot can be in the water approaches 40 minutes.Robot fish is able to resist the current, as well as swim, not only directly, but also turn, turn. If necessary, SoFi can float to the surface.
The top cover of the robot (case) is made of rubber based on silicone and plastic. This allows you to protect the electronic filling from water penetration. To bring the robot in motion, there are two air chambers, which are located in the tail and are used to pump water into the engine. There is a camera that allows video recording in the monitoring process with the possibility of its transfer to the processor of any computer.
