According to the expert, such a trend means the desire of the buyer to expand the functionality of ordinary watches, the usual standard functions lose their relevance and relevance.
In the second quarter of 2018, Apple became the leader in sales of smart watches, its market share is 17%, which is 38% higher than in the same period last year.
Apple experts continue to improve the models produced, adjusting and sometimes anticipating the needs of the user. The pace of development of this direction in the company, most likely, will not allow competitors to bypass the leader in the coming years. A presentation of the new Apple Watch Series 4 watch line is scheduled for September.
The second place is occupied by the brand Xiaomi, its market share is only 2 percent less than Apple. However, the manufacturer essentially lost its position, because exactly one year ago it was the leader of the segment, being almost 1% ahead of its main competitor.
According to the study, the main users of smart watches are residents of Eastern Europe, Latin America and Asia, while representatives of North America and Western Europe, by contrast, remain conservative representatives of modern society, preferring classic models.
