Apple creates a portal for police
The management of Apple intends to organize a site designed specifically to respond to police requests. This was announced in a letter from Keith Adams, Apple's vice president, to Democratic Sheldon Whitehouse. According to rough estimates, the portal can begin its work at the end of this year.
In accordance with the rules that exist at the moment, any member of the gadget market is obliged to provide all the necessary police information relating to users. Information transmitted in cloud services is also transmitted.
According to Apple in 2017, specialists of a famous brand had to process about 14 thousand requests. On average, it takes about 20 minutes to process each, regardless of what time of the day the request is received.
In addition, the company regularly holds special courses for police officers, during which law enforcement officers receive information about what kind of information and in what amounts can be provided upon request. At the moment, more than 1,000 people have attended the courses. Apple creates online textbooks for small police units, and also directs trainers to remote locations.
Creating a single portal for processing police requests is a new stage of interaction. It is expected that the site will help to obtain the necessary data in a shorter time. This will save time on both sides. At the same time, when processing information, the human resource will be minimized, which will prevent leakage.
