Created an unusual robot with an affordable way to control

Company Sphero at the exhibition CES 2018 introduced a new model of the robot. Its peculiarity lies in the unconventional control method - all commands to the machine are given by means of Javascript.

New received name Misty I. The work is based on the operation of Snapdragon processors. There are three microphones, a liquid crystal display, a camera capable of recognizing faces, and usb ports for connecting auxiliary devices.

A unique feature of the Misty I is the “stuffing” located on the surface. That is all the details, mechanisms, chips are outside. This greatly facilitates the management and repair.

A sensor that maps the space around is located on the head of the robot, and the board for interacting with other devices and installing additional software is on the back. Currently, the robot moves with the help of wheels, but in the near future, experts intend to upgrade the device, completing it with tracks. This will expand the scope of application.

The API system that underlies the operation of the device uses JavaScript software, so there will be no problems with developing applications for Misty I.

Currently, there are a large number of robots that can be controlled by people without special training. And Misty I is one of them. It is expected that sales of new cars will begin in the coming month. By the end of the year, the creators intend to improve the model, and over the next years to create on the basis of the device a full-fledged assistant for the house.
