Independent repair of the Electrolux washing machine
Electrolux washing machines have their own characteristic malfunctions due to the technical features of their design (with vertical loading or horizontal). Therefore, the repair of these machines with their own hands is possible only after a thorough theoretical preparation and detailed study of the device of a particular model.
Typical faults
Many modern washing machines have an error recognition system. When a fault is detected, they show on the display an error code, the decoding of which is given in the instruction:
- No water is collected in the tank.
- Dirty water does not drain.
- The machine skips the stage of rinsing clothes.
- The machine does not squeeze.
- The loaded laundry detergent remains in the tray after washing.
- Water in the tank does not heat up.
- The machine is bad or does not turn on at all.
All the listed breakdowns occur with other brands of washing machines, but for Electrolux they are the most frequent, especially for machines with vertical loading.
Causes of faults and repairs
If a washing machine does not take water (although it is in the tap), there can be only two reasons:
- filler hose filter clogged;
- The inlet valve is defective.
You can try to clean the filter with your own hands, but most often clogged filters do not provide for cleaning, but are subject to whole replacement. It is the same with the filler valve - if it does not work (this can be checked with a multimeter), the faulty valve must be replaced.
If Electrolux washing machine is the opposite not drains waste water, the causes of this malfunction can be:
- failure of the drain pump (pump);
- drain hose clogged.
Replacing a faulty pump is quite simple according to the instructions, but cleaning the drain hose with your own hands needs to be disassembled in a bit more detail:
- First, drain the remaining water from the tank through the emergency hose at the bottom, next to the drain filter.
- Disconnect the drain hose from the machine.
- Rinse or flush well.If it does not, use a special cable for cleaning or hard wire.
- Reinstall the drain hose.
- Type in the water machine and check its drain.
If the machine skips the rinsing stage or spin clothes, it can only mean one thing - a malfunction of the control board! Repairing the board yourself is impossible, unless you know about electronics.
If washing the powder remains in the tray after washing, this indicates a malfunction of the valve of the tray, which is responsible for the short-term injection of water during its collection. Over time, this valve may become clogged or simply become unusable. If it is broken, then it can not be repaired - only replaced. But if you just clogged up, you can try to clean it up or rinse it under a strong jet of hot water.
Behind heating water in the tank washing machine meets only one element - tubular electric heater (heater). Therefore, if the water in the machine does not heat up, you should start “dancing” with it:
- Carefully inspect all the wires going to the heater from the power supply, for breakage.
- We take our multimeter and “call” the TENA temperature sensor.
- We check the contacts of the heating element itself.
If TEN or its thermal sensor are faulty, we change them to new ones. If a wire break is detected, we eliminate the break, isolate, solder the contacts.
In rare cases when all three of these elements are intact, but the water in the tank does not heat up, it is to blame control board. Unfortunately, only a specialist can fix it.
In cases where washing machine does not turn on at all or worse, it turns on once, the malfunction may be in the power button or the network cable.
In Electrolux washing machines, there are cases when the power cable is loose and the contacts at its base break. It is easiest to check the serviceability of the cable with a multimeter (tester). If a malfunction is in it, then you can repair it yourself.
But to the contacts of the power button to get much harder. Especially if it is not mechanical, but electronic - on the thyristors of the control board. The mechanical switch can be easily replaced and soldered, and to fix the electronic button, you need to have knowledge of electronics.
Conclusion
As you can see, in many cases repairing the Electrolux washing machine with your own hands is quite possible and there is nothing special about it.There are only irreparable parts and parts that can only be replaced. And if you yourself learn how to do it - save a lot of money on the services of specialists!
