Washington's Face Recognition System Identifies Illegal Migrant
Computer facial recognition is firmly embedded in everyday life. Recently it became known that at one of the airports in the United States, technology discovered a person who was about to enter the country on a fake passport.
The incident occurred at the international airport in Washington, the violator was a French citizen. As a general rule, a French passport provides the right to enter the United States without the need for an additional visa. This condition was intended to take advantage of the "Frenchman". The network installed at the airport revealed a discrepancy between the man’s appearance and his passport and was informed by the regulatory authorities.
During the subsequent investigation, it turned out that in fact the illegal was a citizen of Congo, who was deported from the United States several years ago without the right to obtain a visa for 20 years. During the search, the passport of the African state was discovered, which this time was genuine.
The source does not disclose the reason why the man needed to penetrate the territory of the country contrary to the law. However, the success of the use of the facial recognition system motivated the introduction of similar schemes at all airports in the country in the very near future. Currently, the technology works in test mode only in New York and Washington.
