The principle of operation and features of the use of infrared heat guns
Infrared thermal radiation is a type of heating when heat is transferred to nearby objects. In this way, the Sun gives about half of its heat. Absorbance of bodies extends only in the range of infrared radiation. The operation of the heating unit based on this property does not have a negative impact on the person. Infrared heat guns (IKTP) are used in those premises where spot heating is required.

Scope of application
The area of use of ICTP is diverse: drying and heating of various building materials and structures, heating the air in the building. Consider the most suitable objects for heating:
- warehouse, factory workshops, hangars, industrial buildings;
- administrative and office centers, banks, theaters, hotels, hospitals, restaurants, churches;
- balconies, terraces, balconies, verandas;
- non-residential objects with constant air ventilation;
- medium and large construction sites;
- cottages, garages, apartments, summer houses, country houses;
- stadiums, open pavilions;
- car washes, gas stations, tire stations, car services, car dealerships;
- train stations, airports.
Infrared heat guns combine the advantages of IR heating and electric heaters. Thanks to electronic bimetallic and programmable thermostats The process of heating rooms can be automated by setting the settings for temperature and time.
The main advantages of infrared heat guns
The advantages of heating objects using infrared heat guns include:
- the ability to work outside in bad weather conditions;
- lack of heat loss;
- high efficiency (more than 95% of the heat is transmitted to surrounding objects and people, which, after turning off, performs its functions for some time);
- significant energy savings;
- the ability to set the heating schedule and maintain the desired temperature;
- space saving - the device can be installed under the ceiling;
- minimum installation and disassembly costs;
- fire resistance of materials and components;
- uniform heating;
- compliance with quality certificates;
- environmental safety (devices do not emit harmful products of combustion, without burning oxygen);
- noiseless operation;
- mobility and practicality;
- rapid heating of the room.
Infrared heat gun design
Externally, the devices may differ, however, their main components are the same. The machine consists of the following elements:
- metal case;
- fuel tank;
- filter;
- impeller;
- nozzle;
- spark plug;
- a pen;
- fuel hose;
- safety guard;
- wheels.
Principle of operation
Infrared heater produces heating objects. Heat rays propagate in a rectilinear plane and are not absorbed by air.Heated objects give off heat to air masses and people, creating comfortable heating. At the same time, not the whole volume is heated in the room, but the selected area. Spot heating in a given range reduces heating costs.
Thanks to the burner with diesel fuel or kerosene, the radiator is heated. It is made of flamentines (small-ribbed aluminum tubular heating elements), which emit infrared radiation with increasing temperature. Behind the tubular heating elements is a mirror reflector that prevents the heating of the housing and the internal elements of the heater. The shell of the device is made of refractory materials, coated with high-quality polymer or powder coating with a high degree of protection of the body. Fuel level sensor regulates timely refueling and precise control. The overheating protection system allows the continuous use of a diesel gun.
In the design of the device there is no fan, so the unit is practically silent.
Thus, the main feature of infrared heaters is that thermal energy is transmitted in a given direction to surrounding objects, and already they heat the air in the room. Therefore, a person with infrared radiation feels comfortable.
Fuel use
Infrared heat guns use two types of combustible materials as fuel.
- Kerosene. Due to the capillary effect, the fuel rises from the tank to the wick. Burning, it emits heat, heating objects in the heating range. In the tank there are double walls that prevent the leakage of kerosene. The disadvantages include the characteristic smell during ignition and quenching.
- Diesel fuel. This type of fuel has the best heat dissipation compared with the previous version. But there are drawbacks: after some time, the nozzles need to be cleaned, and at low temperatures the fuel can harden. This factor must be considered when using the heating unit in open areas.
Important! Do not use diesel fuel that has been stored for over a year. Such fuel will cause malfunction of the heater.
Care of device components
To expensive equipment served for a long time, you must carefully care for the main components.
- Fuel tank. Clean the device with kerosene, gasoline or thinner as needed or every 200 hours.After cleansing, the tank must be allowed to dry. Do not use water for cleaning. In order for the tank to retain its functions during long-term storage, it is necessary to drain the fuel and dry it before it is idle.
- Filter. In the unit there are two. Flush the fuel and overhead filters at least 2 times a year.
- Impeller rub once a year with a damp cloth, then dried and set in place.
- Nozzle must be cleaned once a year. To do this, remove it from the burner, disassemble, soak in gasoline or thinner. If contaminated fuel is used, the part changes after a year of operation.
- Photoelectric tube should be cleaned with a cotton cloth moistened with an alcohol-containing liquid or water once a year or as needed. Clean with a cotton cloth moistened with water or alcohol-containing liquid.
- Spark plug brush every 600 hours or as needed. To do this, it is necessary to remove the part from the burner, keeping the space of the electrodes at a distance of 3.5-3.7 mm.
When storing the unit for a long time, make sure that the room is dry, ventilated, and protected from dust and humidity.
A warning! Do not repair or wipe the components of the infrared gun if the equipment is connected to electrical power.
Precautionary measures
Type of heating infrared heater - direct. Kerosene or diesel fuel is burned, generating heat. Initially, this product was developed for use in open areas in the construction and repair of buildings. When burning fuel produces a small amount of carbon monoxide, so when used indoors, you must have good ventilation. It will relieve burning poisoning and unwanted symptoms: headache, dizziness, dry mouth and others.
Tip! When moving IKTP use the handle. She will protect against burns.
Features of device selection
To maximize the functionality before buying a heater, it is necessary to consider important parameters:
- power;
- parameters and heat insulation of the room;
- fuel used;
- noise level;
- dimensions;
- housing materials;
- appearance;
- efficiency parameter;
- mobility;
- the presence of a built-in thermostat.

Customer Reviews
When choosing heaters, people pay attention to people's opinions. About infrared devices respond like this:
“I bought two Bilyuks heaters with a thermostat for a glazed veranda. Power device - 1.5 kW. Suspended at a height of 2.5 meters. After switching on, the heat was felt after 30-40 seconds. Disadvantage: if you go beyond the range of the device, the sensations are cool. ”
