Functions and replacement of the gland in the bread maker
Today, a home appliance such as a bread maker is becoming increasingly popular. This unit surely takes the place of one of the most frequently purchased household appliances. Most housewives have already appreciated the benefits of opening a bread machine. The algorithms built into the control chip can perform a fairly wide range of actions for you. But all this can fail from breakage even of such a small detail as a gland for a breadmaker.
Breakdown diagnostics
It is not uncommon when, after the expiration of the warranty period of service, users begin to notice some changes in the operation of the unit, and these changes, as a rule, are negative. So, for example, it may appear:
- unpleasant squeak;
- creak during work;
- gnash during operation of rotating parts.
The cause of all these "symptoms" on closer inspection often turns out to be broken gland.
In most cases, frequent preparation of jams leads to gland wear. If you often use this mode in your bread maker, often pay attention to the condition of the shaft.
Gland functions
The moving part of the bread machine, namely the dough kneading blade, is mounted on shaft, the protection of which is intended to engage the gland. It prevents the ingress of excessive moisture and small crumbs that can cause breakage or jam rotation. After a certain time, the gland, like many consumables, wears out. This leads to the appearance of various unpleasant sounds. In this situation, you can choose one of two ways to solve the problem.
- The first and most costly one is to completely replace thermal node. This is a complex procedure, for the provision of which will have to contact the service. However, choosing this path, you completely exempt yourself from responsibility for the result of the repair and do not spend time on it.
- The second way is usually chosen by people who are familiar with the equipment and have experience in repairing it.It includes the replacement of the omentum only, and is much cheaper. The disadvantage of this method is the search for the necessary parts, and the time that must be spent on repairs.
Gland replacement
Replacing this part with a new one is quite simple. To do this, you need to follow these instructions:
- Pull the bucket out of the case.
- Remove retaining ringswhich fix the shaft of the bread machine. Most often they are located at the bottom of the mixing bucket.
- Remove the old gland located in a special recess.
- Install the new part in place of the worn.
- After that, cover the surface of the shaft graphite grease.
- Install the shaft in place and secure it with retaining rings.
The bread machine requires careful handling and timely replacement of consumable parts. Carefully monitor any changes in the system and do not forget to conduct periodic inspections. If a breakdown is detected, do not rush to call the master - quite often the problems are not so serious and can be fixed at home.
