Two ways to make a microphone out of ordinary headphones
Virtually all home devices, from the phone to the laptop, are equipped with their own microphone for communication. Particularly zealous fans of programs such as Skype or Mile-agent, even buy themselves stationary microphones to improve communication with subscribers. Separate devices, wireless headsets, built-in mechanisms - today a microphone can take on the most bizarre forms. However, like all devices, it can suddenly break, which is why it will be useful for everyone to learn how to make a microphone from headphones.
Preparation for assembly
In most cases, the owners simply dispose of the failed electrical appliance and go to buy a new one. But in this case you do not need to hurry, because everyone can assemble a microphone from ordinary headphones.To turn the headphones from the phone into a high-quality microphone for a computer, you need to prepare suitable materials, namely:
- headphones of any company; the simplest complete headphones from the phone will do;
- 3.5 mm plug, better known under the name "jack";
- high-quality wires for connections (carefully examine their integrity, do not allow damage to the insulating material);
- soldering iron of sufficient power;
- sufficient amount of solder, rosin.
You can choose one of two options. You can use the headphones directly, but you can turn them into a full-fledged headset. The procedure does not take you much time and will not cause difficulties.
First way
Making a microphone out of old headphones is the most economical way out. Upon completion of the work, you will be able to get not only a new device, but also breathe life into the useless “trash”. First you have to do soldering.
- Take strong wire and solder it to the jack plug. To do this, use a well-heated soldering iron and solder. Carefully clean the surface of the wire intended for soldering with rosin, then apply a little solder and wait,until it freezes. Get reliable wire connections and proceed to the next step.
- On the headphones, find the black box with the "answer" button and carefully disassemble its case.
- With access to the inside, find small microphoneprovided by the developer to accept the call. Use the soldering iron again and connect the bare end of the two-wire cable to the microphone.
- Apply a small portion of the solder so as not to damage the device.
- Assemble the box in reverse order - now you have a full-fledged headset. Of course, you can take the microphone out of the plastic case, but then the headset will look sloppy.
If you clearly adhere to the instructions and do not overdo it with solder, which could cause a circuit in the places of adhesion, then when you connect the headset to the laptop, you will hear slight clicks. This means that the microphone is operating normally.
Second way
This is a much less expensive in terms of effort and resources to create a microphone at home. To do this you need a phone, computer Bluetooth adapter and headphones included.
Connect your mobile device with computer via Bluetooth connection.Connect the headset to the phone jack and you will get a working microphone. This method will allow you to quickly restore the lost connection, but it is not recommended to use it on an ongoing basis.
This scheme is used as a temporary replacement when there is no time or money to buy a good microphone.
Such a system is unstable, because Bluetooth - the connection may be interrupted at the most unexpected moment. To this is added the need to constantly monitor the battery charge in the phone. Connecting it to the outlet will add wires, which can cause difficulties in use.
As you can see, from ordinary headphones for the phone, which are included with most models, you can make a great headset for communication. Of course, it will never replace a real microphone. Handmade devices can significantly yield in quality transmitted sound factory analogues. However, having on hand quality parts, you can try to assemble a real microphone.
