Plasma sterilizer and its properties
Plasma sterilizers process instruments with hydrogen peroxide vapor and its plasma at a temperature of 36 ° C to 60 ° C. Place such devices in the central sterilization or operating units.
This low-temperature treatment has replaced sterilization with toxic vapors of ethylene oxide or formaldehyde and occupies a middle position between them in cost.
Mechanism of action
The principle of operation of the sterilizer is as follows:
- The first chamber turns peroxide into vapor.
- The steam passes into a pre-evacuated chamber with a biocidal environment, where it acts on microbes and spores.
- Diffusion occurs.
- The start of the high-voltage discharge forms the plasma and active radicals.
- During plasma operation, the pressure changes.
- The camera is being vacuumed again.
- Plasma acts on microorganisms.
- Set the normal pressure.
- The processed objects are unloaded from the camera.
The hardest substance is concentrated at the beginning of sterilization. Then this figure gradually decreases due to convection and fluid absorption.
Peroxide concentration 0.1 ml per dm3 capacity reduces the level of accumulation of dangerous organisms by 5-6 units in 36 minutes.
Plasma sterilizers are used against various bacillus and candida. The processing time is determined by the concentration and oxidizing ability of the agent.
Tools to be processed
The device processes equipment in the following industries:
- surgery and microsurgery;
- traumatology;
- dentistry (except for burs);
- ophthalmology
He sterilizes catheters, cables and devices, emitters, optical fibers, instrument handles, breathing circuits.
Plasma sterilizer is suitable for material processing with the following features:
- heterogeneity (syringes, implants);
- thermolability (plastic);
- propensity to corrosion.
The device sterilizes hard-to-reach areas of medical instruments, for example, internal channels up to 1 mm in diameter and up to 250 cm long.
Sterrad
Among the modern plasma sterilizers known "Sterrad 200", capable of processing 150 liters in 75 minutes.It has the following characteristics:
- Two sterilization cycles: 75 minutes and 105 minutes.
- Control via color touch screen.
- One or two doors at the request of the customer.
- Barcode reader.
- Connecting to the hospital network: the data transmitted from the device is stored in the network or stand-alone computer memory in order to track the washing, application of a bar code, sterilization and storage of each item.
- The system for measuring the concentration of hydrogen peroxide every second cycle.
- Built-in wheels.
“Sterrad 200” does not damage the products sensitive to humidity and strong heating with thin and sharp working areas, increases their wear resistance and reduces the need for sharpening, using an agent at 46 ° C. is heleaves no residue, breaking down into water and oxygen.
Additional aeration systems and water supply or special conditions for cooling and ventilation of the processed tools are not required.
