Despite the simplicity of the process, vibrating ramming is a very effective method for compacting concrete. This happens due to making the working mixture more homogeneous and displacing the available air, which is why there are no sinks in the frozen mass. The use of a building vibrator, in comparison with manual splicing, allows to increase the productivity of work, but factory-made equipment is expensive. For rare home use it is inappropriate to purchase it in many cases. The output will be to make a vibrator for concrete with your own hands. With small amounts of work, such a tool will successfully replace the corporate equivalent and will save money.

The design of the vibrator variants of the basic units
There are various types of vibrators for concrete. According to the method of influence on the filled solution, the tool is divided into two types:
- deep (submersible);
- surface.
In the home workshop you can make both kinds of tools.
Despite the design differences, the equipment has the following common main nodes:
- drive - the main element of the system, which sets in motion all the other moving parts of the mechanism;
- imbalance - a node that creates a vibration;
- shaft.
The drive of factory products are pneumatic, fuel, electric and hydraulic engines. In order to assemble a homemade vibrator for concrete in living conditions, it would be optimal to use an electric motor from various power tools. Suitable for this purpose:
- perforator;
- drill;
- Bulgarian;
- motokosa.
You can also use a separate electric motor and from other tools or equipment. In all cases it is necessary that the used electric motor have the following technical indicators:
- speed from 3000 rpm;
- possibility of connection to a stationary power grid with a voltage of 220 V.
Power of the selected motor impact on the efficiency of work: the higher it is, the more productive the created home-made will be, and the probability of its overload will decrease.
Unbalance (vibro device) is relatively difficult for the practical implementation of the node vibrator. In models of the submersible type, this is a vibrating nozzle consisting of a rubber coupling, a sleeve and a metal (steel) impact part.

Deep vibrators are equipped with flexible shaftwhich transmits the motion of the drive to the vibrotip. The vibrating nozzle is lowered into the thickness of the compacted filled mixture and spreads oscillations through the solution. You can make a flexible shaft from a stainless rod (cable), bearings, steel tube.
If it is necessary to work with concrete infrequently, then it is most simple to assemble a vibrator, taking as a basis an electric drill or a perforator.
Algorithm for making a vibrator from a drill
The easiest option is to purchase ready nozzle on the electric drill for consolidation of concrete of factory production. However, this option requires material costs.

No changes in the design of the electric drill will be required, it will be necessary to assemble only the vibrator-tip with the shaft.
Tools and materials
This will require, in addition to the drill itself, such tools and materials:
- steel rod or cable about a meter long with a diameter of 1.5 cm;
- welding machine with electrodes for stainless steel;
- 2 roller type bearings with an outer diameter of 52 mm (for example, NF304 or 12304);
- 0.5 m stainless steel tube with an external cross section of 55 mm with a wall thickness of 1.5 mm;
- drill with a set of drills for metal;
- 0.4 m of a metal rod of rectangular cross section (with a length of the larger side not exceeding 25 mm);
- swords for threading;
- clamping screw;
- Bulgarian with cutting wheels for metal or hand saw;
- rubber or polyvinyl chloride tube along the length of the rod (cable) with a diameter that allows to put it on a steel tip;
- a casing that will protect the vibrotip;
- metal rod of circular cross section (diameter 15 mm, 20 cm length is enough);
- fragment of metal sheet about 20 by 20 cm (thickness from 1.5 mm);
- Roulette with a marker.

Bearings will experience significant loads during vibration, so it is recommended to give preference when buying high-quality products.
Assembly sequence
Vibrating work nozzle on the drill is made in this sequence.
- Bulgarian grinder cut a metal rod of circular cross section into 2 equal length pieces.
- Weld segments to a rectangular rod on both sides.
- Dress on homemade debalance on each side of the bearing.
- Insert the assembled structure inside the steel tube.
- Cut the round rod on either side flush with the pipe.
- Cut out of the metal sheet cover for the working end of the vibrator head.
- Welded plug.
- Two holes for matching with the shaft are drilled in the outgoing end of the tip: one is from the center (along the rotation axis) depth and 1.5 cm in diameter, and the other is perpendicular to it 7 mm from the edge (4 mm cross section).
- The thread for the clamping screw is cut in the smaller hole.
- Insert the rod (cable) in PVC or rubber tube, lubricating it beforehand, while leaving a margin of about 5 cm on each side.
- Connect the shaft with vibrotip.
- Tension the hose on the vibrator head, fixing it with a clamp.
- The second end of the shaft is cut to the desired length and secured in the electric drill chuck so that only the cable rotates and the hose is stationary.
- Protect the vibrator head with a plastic cover.
- Connect the power cord of the electric drill to the network and check the performance of the concrete vibrator.

Manufacturing nuances
When assembling a homemade vibrator from a drill, consider the following points.
- To keep the metal parts of the nozzle strong and not collapse from the effects of corrosion, they are made of of stainless steel.
- If the drill chuck is not designed for the diameter of the shaft, then you will need to purchase a suitable adapter.
- Before installation bearings lubricate well. They should be placed in a steel tube without distortions, and the shaft of metal rods should rotate freely.
- The joints must be as tight as possible so that the tool lasts a long time.
You can also make a sleeve for the end of the vibrotip. A cable will be connected to it, as well as a hose.
Creating a vibrator from a perforator
From the perforator vibrator can be assembled in the same way in various ways. The unit with a flexible shaft make the above method. To do this, use power tools with a capacity of more than 1500 watts. It will work in this case in the rotational mode.
Another way to transform a perforator into a surface vibrator is to make special tamping nozzles. For this you will need:
- an unnecessary punching nozzle (for example, a drill, a peak, a shovel) with a whole tail that does not jump out of the cartridge;
- a fragment of a steel plate 5–7 mm thick (a piece of 0.5 by 0.5 m is sufficient);
- rebar with a cross section of 1 to 2 cm (rectangular or square bars of metal of suitable sizes can be used), up to 1.5 m long.
It is desirable that the metal plate and fittings be made of stainless steel, because the concrete is an aggressive medium.
The algorithm for making the nozzle is as follows:
- grinder cut from a prepared sheet of metal a rectangular fragment (or square) of the desired size, and from the reinforcement - a piece of such length that it reaches to the bottom of the mold set (formwork);
- by welding combine the cooked parts;
- the tail end is cut off from an unnecessary nozzle;
- the shank is welded to the free end of the reinforcement.
After the done manipulations nozzle is ready for use. Compaction of concrete will occur when the punch in shock mode. The tip plate can be placed both on the surface of the filled solution and leaned against the formwork: under the action of oscillations, the working mixture will be compacted.
In practice, even more simplified version: use a rod welded with a nozzle shank (without a plate) corresponding to the length of the formwork.At the same time, the tamping process is similar to a manual splicing, but surpasses it in performance.
Vibrator for tamping a concrete solution, created by your own hands from a perforator suitable for the characteristics or electric drill is quite effective. He is able to replace with small amounts of work factory equipment. Conversion is only in the manufacture of nozzles. The process of creation itself does not require special financial investments, skills and knowledge, and also does not take much time. At the same time to get the necessary materials is not difficult. If it is necessary to assemble a flexible shaft, then even a cable for cleaning the sewage system is suitable, and as a protection you can wear a reinforced hose.
Special attention should be paid to the tightness of the joints so that the concrete solution does not get inside the nozzle immersed in it and at an accelerated rate does not destroy it.
